The weather of Shimla in summers is a mix of cold and warm. This hilly town experiences summer from the months of April to June. The day time temperature is around 27 degree Celsius and it feels a bit warm during this time. The nights are much cold and people visiting here are required to carry light warm woolen clothes and blankets. The variation in the night and day temperature is the important feature of summers in Shimla. It occasionally rains during summers but not very heavy.
There is a great influx of tourists during summers as plains are warmer at this time. The surrounding is overcrowded in summers. The monsoon season lasts from July to September in Shimla. The weather across Shimla during monsoon is characterized by heavy rainfall and the temperature drops to a considerable range of 15 degree to 25 degree Celsius. There are too many land slides during this season and therefore it is advisable not to visit the hills at this time of the year.
The place receives heavy snowfall during winters and the weather around Shimla gets cold and chilly due to icy winds from the Himalayan range. The winter lasts from November to middle of February. Winter poses problems of transportation in the hill station, but still tourists love to visit this place during winters just to experience snowfall around the Christmas time.
