Shimla is located at the height of about 2213 meters above the sea level. Since it is situated at such an altitude, the climate has diverse conditions. This hill station is famous for its climatic conditions so as such there is no best time to visit Shimla. It experiences heavy tourist influx throughout the year. The proximity to lower Himalayan ranges is responsible for this pleasant climate.
Winters are fairly cold in Shimla and it receives heavy snow fall during this time from the months of November to mid- February. The snowfall is the attraction point for many tourists who visit in winters. It is a mix of cold and warm weather during the months of April to June. Shimla is overcrowded during the summer season as there are visitors from warmer plains. The nights in summers are cooler and one needs light woolens in the nights. The days are bit warmer so people can comfortably commute through the town and visit places.
